Thought Universe Electronic Music Studio (2001)

An album originally released in 2001 as a limited edition CDR. Featuring a collection of music recorded and produced by Mark Pilkington/Thought Universe at Thought Universe Electronic Music Studio in Manchester, UK. All music was mixed live using an Atari ST running Cubase sending pre-programmed MIDI data to a variety of hardware synths and samplers. The music was influenced by the emerging post-rave and IDM scenes in the UK of the 1990’s.

Review by Christopher Miller.

In 2001, IDM was evolving into more abstract, minimal, glitch, and nu jazz territories. This album was a refreshing reminder of the original sound that first enamoured me to IDM and ambient music of the early-to-mid-1990s. Thank you for the reissuance, Mark! Favourite track: Desimer.
